Enfolding Familes

“This (class) has helped me learn how to attentively listen.  I can help you but I don’t know how to help myself, and that’s been destructive.  My legacy will be to stand up and be accounted for… not always be missing.” Michael

The Enfolding Families installation is the culmination of a yearlong project in the San Francisco County Jails created and implemented by Deanne Morizono Myers.  The project was sponsored by Community Works and funded by the San Francisco Arts Commission.

The Enfolding Families project involved over 80 participants from the Community Works programs One Family and RSVP, as well as the COVER project for incarcerated veterans, and the Keys to Change program. Through talking circles, writing and art making, participants explored family legacy, both the legacy that has been inherited and the legacy that one is creating.

The exhibit will be on display December 5-30, 2011 at the Administrative Offices of the Courts in San Francisco (455 Golden Gate) Mon-Fri, 9-5.  On December 14 & 15 from 12-2 pm, the artists and participants will be there in person to discuss the process and its impact.
