Programming for Incarcerated Youth

Youth Guidance Center

The Arts and Restorative Justice Program at San Francisco ’s Youth Guidance Center aims to encourage the exploration of Restorative Justice principles through expressive arts such as Hip Hop, creative writing, and theatre. The program also provides incarcerated youth with the opportunity and tools to acknowledge and explore their own roles as both victimizers and survivors in our society.

The arts serve as a creative outlet for juvenile offenders, as well as a means of developing a positive self-image and personal voice.  Through creative exploration, participants examine the impact that their actions have on themselves and their communities, and to create frameworks for making healthier choices.

Alameda County

CW is contracting with the Alameda County Arts Commission to implement comprehensive arts programming at the County’s new Juvenile Justice Center.  Programming includes multi-disciplinary arts-integrated residencies at the Buena Vista School; after-school, weekend, and school break workshops; and temporary and permanent art installations.
