Community Works' Rising Voices, a theatre ensemble of formerly incarcerated young women, presents its newest work, FOUND. Inspired by the principles of Restorative Justice, FOUND is an original theatre piece, written and performed by the ensemble and directed by Rising Voices Program Director, Michelle Maxson.
FOUND answers the questions: who have you harmed, how have you harmed them, and what are you doing to do to fix it? Using storytelling in its simplest form, the ensemble weave individual memories and life experiences together to create one voice, recounting how their choices led to incarceration, and chronicling the search for forgiveness and rediscovery of the heart. FOUND is a probing piece of theatre which challenges both performer and audience to move beyond the prejudices and stereotypes of incarcerated populations, to find the humanity that connects us all.
